Members of the Pocatello High Earth Club. The "Surfer Snow Junkies"
The "Surfer Snow Junkies" Dane, Eric, Matt and Aiden double down and cover this zone as well
Dedicated "Eager Beavers" Chris Ann and Elizabeth handle one of our most challenging zones
Experienced Flat-tailers Kitti and Sarah with freshman Elizabeth tackle this zone as the "Three Dam Dames "
Veteran Flat-tailers Daria and Greg with friend hike this zone as the "Swamp Donkeys"
Freshman Flat-tailers Sam, Destiny and Adam mark this zone as the "Castor Counters"
New Flat-tailers Mitch, Carrie and return Flat-tailer Duane scouted for beaver in this zone as "Jerry Mathers Experience". A subtle nod to the "The Beav"
Veteran and veteran Flat-tailer Mark and Les combine forces to count the gateway zone as "Leave it to Beavers"
This zone was not counted. More about this zone later.
Long-time Flat-tailers Richard and Paul ski the distance to census this zone as the "1,500 Yarders" Good stamina, job well done! Thank you for counting our longest zone.
Gus and Joe skied upstream to spot beaver as "BCXC". Yeah. You are Nordic Ski gods!
Jon and Colleen doubled up on data with Steve and Neoma, "The Walkers" to verify the absence of beavers on this zone that were supposed to be here. Thank you for verifying what turned out to be a false lead. Not as glamourous, but necessary. Zone XII was sampled the week prior to BC and no beaver activity was observed on this zone.
After seeing a steady decline in activity for the past 4 years, this year represents the lowest of the lows.
Typically there is plenty of activity on this reach. This year is one of the lowest since Watershed Guardians was founded.
The "Castor Counters" tallied this zone which was a bit of a boot from the parking lot. Yay! They saw some activity!
Censused by the 3 Dam Dames, this reach was our "go to" colony for years. Now , it is wiped out.
This is the zone where the training was conducted. If you you went to training, you know where these are.
IF&G closed this reach to trapping two years after the last colony was recoreded here and 4 years after we requested that they close it to trapping..
This zone was sampled by the Surfer Snow Junkies* and has some difficult access. This may be one reason that it has intermittent activity.
This zone was counted by the "Castor Counters" and "Leave it to Beavers" as zones VIIa and VIIb. Typically a viable zone. Message us at 232-0825 if you would like directions to this zone.
This is one of our bright spots for this year's BeaverCount. Fortunaetly, we had the "Eager Beavers" get to this VERY DIFFICULT zone counted this year. Thank you, ladies!
This zone was once the "Keystone" of our BeaverCount training. In 2007, it hosted 26 active dams and as many as 8 activty clusters (colonies). We sent 2 expeditions there this yaer to verify reports that activity had been seen there. Alas, these were false.
