"To preserve, maintain and protect the Portneuf River Watershed, one beaver at a time"
At Watershed Guardians, we believe that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment. Whether you're an individual, a business, or a government, we all have a responsibility to take action towards a more sustainable future. Our organization is dedicated to promoting watershed awareness and providing resources and support for those who want to make a difference. Take a look around our website to learn more about our initiatives and how you can get involved.
Back in the heyday of the trapping era, suppliers would drive their wagons to the Rocky Mountain valleys loaded with everything from fatback to guitar strings and all it would cost was a few beaver pelts. This was a joyous occasion. In addition to the possibles, there would be barbequed beasts and deals made. There were also games of skill throughout this week during late summer day, and the currency was beaver pelts harvested the previous winter. The Reverse Rendezvous is similar in a few ways, but mostly it is to regroup, and celebrate the beaver that were NOT TRAPPED. Join us celebrating you volunteers, you Flat-tailers, who helped beavers keep their skins. This is for you. Please join us in recognizing them.
Reverse Rendezvous is at Sister City Park. Drive East on Pocatello Creek Road and pass through the green light at Olympus. Proceed until right before the left exit onto Satterfield. Right before the landscaped triangle there is a driveway. Turn left there and proceed up that driveway to the top. You find parking just below the pavilion. Join us there!
You can RSVP by texting 208-232-0825 or emailing mike@watershedguardians.org . Please indicate the number planning to attend and your food preference. Thank you!
We'll provide the food and some beverages, so if you have a drink or food preference, bring it. We'll provide beer and wine. We'll have meat and non-meat burgers, buns and the fixins and chips. Please feel free to bring a side or desert. We'll have paper plates, cups and plasti-ware.
We'll be announcing some awards from Beaver Count and we'll have some games suitable for both adults and youths.
Erik Bartholomew from Idaho Fish and Game will be discussing their plans for beaver re-introductions in our area. He will also be discussing beaver management in general. Erik has been with IDFG since 2017 and has been a Farm Bill Coordinator and a Wildlife Biologist since that time. Prior to coming to Idaho, he worked in Oklahoma as a private lands biologist, the state furbearer biologist and deer program coordinator. Erik and his family are originally from Kansas.
Any Flat-tailer, volunteer, factor (donor) or member on your mailing list is invited. Key issues:

Watershed Guardians has never shirked from a challenge. From commenting on virtually every furbearer season rule proposals, to attending Idaho Department of Water Resources board meeting to standing on the frozen street corners of Pocatello to get our message out, we are the essence of perseverance. This is go all in time. We are formulating a plan not just for today, but for tomorrow. We have a plan to move forward and get the Portneuf beaver out from "under the bus", but we'll need some help. We trust that we can count on our leadership, our friends and you to get the job done.
At Watershed Guardians, we envision a world where the the Portneuf's beaver are protected and preserved for future generations. We aim to create a sustainable future for them by educating the community on how beaver sustain our watershed.
We had over 12 new recruits and 2 recertifications at Cherry Springs. Our new Flat-tailers are courageous, resilient, intelligent and purpose driven. Please visit our Facebook page and let them know !
Mike Doyle is our outdoor preparedness trainer extraordinaire. I met Mike while at the Scout's Klondike Derby and recognized him as a great teacher who has lived the skills he is sharing. Those who attend will walk away with a few skills that may someday , save a life. Thanks, Mike!

Thank you to all who helped out with BeaverDamJam-Idaho. Special thanks to those who donated items for the Raffle (Sportsmans and CAL Ranch); the silent auction (to many to count) and Countless volunteers who helped. Also, special shout out to Teran Engle who ran the sound for us. You rocked it!
